It seems to work just fine, but I have found the following issues:The installation CD that comes with the drive installed a service on my computer that runs continually in the background to check if there are firmware updates for the drive. Supplying new firmware updates automatically for customers in this manner can be excused, but the way the service software was written causes Windows to stop booting on startup and to prompt you for permission to run the service. This happens every time you start Windows! Note: Whether you see this prompt will depend on the security setting of your Windows User Account Control (UAC). You will not see it if your security setting is set too low (risky!). You will see it if your UAC security setting is set to the recommended default level. Both a SATA data cable and an IDE-SATA power adapter were in the box, despite the bulk packaging, and all books/manuals/warranty information were included as well.The drive, unlike in the picture, has a textured front. There are ridges all over the black area of the tray itself, which I don't mind at all. Once I had it installed, I simply turned the PC on and Windows 7 already had the drive ready to go. I put in the included disk (which contains CyberLink PowerDVD 9 + LG's Burn Assistance and Update tools), installed and updated everything, and I was up and running. In the manual is a brand list of media that LG recommends using, but I had no trouble using Memorex DVDs and CDs at all. Read and write speeds are what is listed, and the specs are accurate.
