But I really wanted one because a) I live in hurricane country and like to be able to function without power b) I like being "old school" and c) anything that I can do "off the [power] grid" is awesome to me. So I picked this one. It comes with no directions, but it really needs none. There is a little thing that you turn to adjust the size of the grounds you make that you will need to turn to your liking before screwing on the handle. It's a pretty simple little thing, so just look at it and you'll figure it out. The device is pretty intuitive to use - just unscrew the little cap on the top of the joint where the handle attaches to the mechanism and unscrew to make the grind more coarse. Now I no longer have copious amounts of sediment at the bottom of my mug! It can be a little noisy early in the morning, but I placed a folded dish towel underneath it to dampen this a bit to much success. Since I only make coffee for myself with the French Press, I don't mind that this doesn't make tons of grinds.
